Roughly 80 percent of Americans live in cities while rural areas cover 97 percent of the nation’s land. This disparity leads to people believe they have to travel outside of their cities and suburbs to experience wildlife. While this may hold true with some larger wildlife, a wide variety of birds visit or make their homes around urban areas. In New York City, for example, the once endangered Peregrine Falcons2 can be seen flying around their year round home.
